When a client calls and says they need an ebike with a Bosch mid drive—or a critical replacement part—by tomorrow, your first instinct might be to panic. Or to say yes to the first vendor who answers the phone.
I've been there. In my role coordinating emergency supply for specialty e-bike workshops and industrial drive integrators, I've handled over 200 rush orders in the past three years. The conventional wisdom is to never leave money on the table. Take the rush fee. My experience with 200+ orders suggests otherwise.

How to Know Which Scenario You're In

2. Write down the cost of failure. Not just the financial cost, but also the time cost (reworking a stepper motor controller installation, for example) and the reputational cost.
3. Write down the TCO of each option. Don't just look at the unit price. Add in shipping, setup, rush fees, and the potential cost of a mistake.
